Tour Description
This experience offers a mix of city, coast and absolutely delicious cuisine. We will visit San Sebastian, and a few of our favorite places on the Basque coastline of Gipuzkoa province. Furthermore, the tour allows a guest to get a feel for our urban environments along with the rural countryside and rugged coast!
Itinerary
San Sebastian Tour
We begin this Basque experience with a guided tour of San Sebastian. We will first walk to Zurriola beach before heading to the old quarter of the city. Zurriola is a great place to watch the surfers and enjoy the beautiful Atlantic Ocean! A full walking tour through the city center and beautiful old town. We will visit sites such as the Constitution Square, La Concha Bay, churches, La Bretxa Market, and the city center. You will also be given a detailed historical overview of the city explaining the unique fiestas, culture and traditions found in the elegant city by the sea.
Fishing Village of Getaria
We will stop in the fishing port of Getaria. This quaint town on the coast has a medieval old quarter and some of the absolute best fish/seafood restaurants in the Basque Country! We will secure reservations at one of our favorite restaurants in the town for delicious lunch of grilled fish/seafood. Many of our guests claim that is the best they have ever tasted!
GeoPark of Zumaia
We will then make the short drive to the unique coastal village of Zumaia, with its famous rock formations containing fossils that date back some 100 million years. Here you will find some of the most breathtaking vistas in the entire Basque Country. The dramatically beautiful cliffs of Zumaia and the coastal Geopark was also a major shooting location for the Game of Thrones television show. We can walk along these ancient formations taking in the sea and outstanding views. We can also go for a short trek if you are up for it.
